Derek Walker

Mr. Walker is responsible for the company’s development activities including project due diligence, financial analysis, preliminary site design, debt financing, and entitlements. Mr. Walker oversees the entire development process from acquisition through store opening.

Prior to joining Storage of America, Mr. Walker was the Director of Strategic Projects and Urban Renewal for a national economic development consulting firm based in Ogden, Utah. In this role, Mr. Walker helped public and private clients with site selection, site design, project underwriting, tenant recruitment, and the structuring of development incentives. Mr. Walker has also worked in New York City with a real estate advisory firm and a boutique condo developer.

Mr. Walker graduated with honors from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and holds a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from New York University. He resides in Draper, Utah with his wife and two daughters.
